The red grape variety is a new breed between Merlot x Raboso Veronese, Synonyms are Cosmo 108, Incrocio Cosmo and Merlot x Raboso 108. The crossing took place in 1976 in Italy by the breeder Italo Cosmo at the Venetian wine institute in Conegliano, The medium to late ripening vine is in Veneto grown in the province of Treviso and used as a blend.
