Common name in German-speaking countries for wines from a certain area of origin. Bigger areas like that growing region or wine region, but also smaller areas such as a winegrowing community. Such wines are also used by producer groups or Winzergenossenschaften produced according to self-imposed quality criteria. This is expressly the origin emphasized and possibly documented in the name.
