The Federation Internationale des Journalistes et Ecrivains des Vins et Spiritueux was founded in 1989 with the aim of promoting contact between wine journalists worldwide. This includes linking and supporting contacts between members as well as publishers, newspapers and magazines, recognition by producers, publishers, dealers, organizing press presentations, safeguarding freedom of expression, organizing study trips and adhering to the ethical FIJEV charter by members. Membership in FIJEV is possible in the form of "active", "associated" and "supportive" as well as a "meritorious honorary member".
Active journalists, columnists and editors with regular, at least quarterly publications, as well as authors and writers on the subject of wine and spirits, who met the FIJEV statutes / criteria after submitting the application. Associate members do not (yet) have sufficient work. Supporting members include those interested in wine & spirits, trade associations, oenologists, wine dealers, wineries, distilleries, PR companies, restaurateurs and hoteliers. There are members from 60 countries. A yearbook is published every two years. The Union Weinfeder eV
