The "Federation Internationale des Journalistes et Ecrivains des Vins et Spiritueux" was founded in 1989 with the aim of promoting contact between wine journalists worldwide. These include linking and supporting members' contacts as well as publishers, newspapers and magazines, recognition by producers, publishers, distributors, holding press presentations, maintaining freedom of expression, organizing study trips and member adherence to the FIJEV ethical charter. Membership of FIJEV is possible in the form of "active", "associated" and "supportive" as well as "meritorious honorary member".
Among the active members are publicly recognized journalists, columnists and editors with regular publications, at least quarterly, as well as authors and writers on the subject of wine and spirits, who have complied with the FIJEV statutes / criteria. For associate members, their scope of activities is not (yet) sufficient. Supporting members include those interested in wine & spirits, trade associations, oenologists, wine merchants, wineries, distilleries, public relations firms, restaurateurs and hoteliers.
