First choice

Formerly a term used in Austria for quality wines. It was used for vintage wines with distinctive characteristics regarding varietal character and origin. In addition, information about the selection criteria had to be included on the label. However, it is no longer mentioned in the current designation regulation. In spirit, Erste Wahl corresponds to the designation Auswahl mit gleichen Bedingungen ( Selection with the same conditions) mentioned in this regulation.
