flag Wavers

On brand red wine from the Austrian community Neckenmarkt in the wine region Mittelburgenland from the variety Blaufränkisch is pressed. The custom of flag waving, which is celebrated on Sunday after Corpus Christi, goes to the Battle of Lackenbach in October 1620 between Nikolaus Graf Esterházy (1583-1645) back as a party member of the Austrian ruling house of Habsburg and Hungarian and Bohemian rebels. When his castle was besieged by the insurgents, the farmers from Neckenmarkt provided decisive help. For this they received the privilege from Esterházy forest and arable land in 1622 as well as for eternal times to be able to move under ceremonial occasions under the imperial-imperial flag given by the prince. Since then, this flag has been flown every year on Sundays after Corpus Christi by the boys from Neckenmarkt. See also under Customs in viticulture,
