On brand red wine from the Austrian community Neckenmarkt in the winegrowing area Mittelburgenland, of the sort Blaufränkisch is pressed. The custom of flag-waving, which is celebrated on Sunday after the Corpus Christi festival, goes on the battle of Lackenbach in October 1620 between Count Nikolaus Esterházy (1583-1645) as a partisan of the Austrian ruling house Habsburg and Hungarian and Bohemian rebels back. When his castle was besieged by the insurgents, the farmers of Neckenmarkt made decisive help. For this they were granted in 1622 by Esterházy forest and farmland as well as for ever the privilege to be allowed to move out on solemn occasions under the imperial-royal flag given by the prince. Since then, this flag has been swung by the Neckenmarkter boys on Sunday after Corpus Christi every year. See also below Customs in viticulture,
