The municipality is located in the Côte de Nuits area of Burgundy and is a special case. It does not have its own village appellation, but is included in the neighbouring municipality of Vosne-Romanée and is allowed to sell its Villages wines under the name Vosne. However, there are two Grand Cru vineyards, Echézeaux with 30 hectares and Grands Echézeaux with 9 hectares of vines, which, like all Grands Crus, are considered their own appellations. The red wines are mainly made from Pinot Noir with small amounts of Pinot Liébault (Pinot Noir clone) and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are Bichot (Domaine du Clos Frantin), Confuron-Cotetidot, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Gros, Jadot, Jayer-Gilles, Laurent and Rouget.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
