Flohhaxn

Name for a vineyard that no longer exists in the municipality of Dürnstein in the Wachau wine-growing region (Lower Austria). The rights to the name are held by Domäne Wachau, which produced a branded wine until the 1980s. The same applies to the Himmelstiege and Katzensprung brands. A "Dürnsteiner Flohhaxn" as well as "Dürnsteiner Katzensprung" were served on 15 May 1955 at the banquet in the Belvedere in Wien on the occasion of the signing of the Austrian State Treaty. At that time, these wines were bottled in a special bottle shape (0.7 l at that time). The lower half was cylindrical, the upper half conical with an additionally applied ring bead (see below in the picture on the left). Today, the rights to the name "Flohhaxn" are held by the Morandell company, which has a wine (1 l) produced by the Huber winery in the Traisental.
