Florental

The red variety is an interspecific new variety between Seibel 8365 (Seibel 5410 x Seibel 4643) x Gamay. Synonyms and breeding no. respectively are 7705 Bourdin and Bourdin 7705. It contains genes of Vitis aestivalis, Vitis labrusca, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed around 1925 by Joanny and Rémy Bourdin in France. The early-ripening vine is suitable for areas with cool climate, but is susceptible to botrytis. It produces colourful, alcohol-rich red wines. Due to its resistance to phylloxera, it is also used as a rootstock. The variety is cultivated in Burgundy and the Loire. In 2016, 11 hectares of vineyards were designated (statistics Kym Anderson).
