Folignan

The white grape variety (INRA 8476) is a new cross between Ugni Blanc (Trebbiano Toscano) x Folle Blanche. The crossing took place in 1964 in France on the initiative of INRA. The medium ripening vine is moderately susceptible to Botrytis. It was approved in 2005 for the production of base wines for Cognac and is mainly used for this purpose. In 2016, 51 hectares of vines were reported with an increasing trend (Kym Anderson statistics).
