The red grape variety comes from Italy, Synonyms are Della Forsella, Forcellina, Forselina, Forsella, Forsellana, Forzelina and Pignola. The parentage is unknown. The medium maturing vine produces aromatic, fruity red wines. It used to be in the region Veneto widespread, but the population has decreased significantly. In the 1970s, the endangered variety from the institute in Conegliano reactivated and re-added to the official list of varieties in 1987. It is in the DOC wines Bardolino and Valpolicella authorized. In 2010, an acreage of seven hectares was reported (Kym Anderson ).
