Forsellina

The red grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Della Forsella, Forcellina, Forselina, Forsella, Forsellana, Forzelina and Pignola. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. The medium ripening vine yields aromatic, fruity red wines. It used to be widespread in Veneto, but the population has been greatly reduced. In the 1970ies, the variety, which was threatened with extinction, was ractivated by the institute in Conegliano and was included in the list of varieties again in 1987. It is allowed in the DOC wines Bardolino and Valpolicella. In 2016, seven hectares of vines were recordedn (Kym Anderson).
