Forstberg

single vineyard in the municipality of Ahrweiler in the German wine-growing region of Ahr. The name of the camp is derived from the field name of the same name. It either goes back to the proximity to the Forstwald forest or to the former Ahrweiler noble family "von der Forst". The vineyards, which face south to southwest at an altitude of 110 to 180 metres above sea level, cover 34 hectares of vineyards, of which 11 hectares are planted with vines. The soils consist mainly of greywacke and slate, mixed with loess and loess loam.Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser and Dornfelder are cultivated on more than half of the area. The Bertram Julia, Kriechel Peter, Sermann-Kreuzberg and Weingut Sonnenberg wineries, for example, have shares in the site.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
