The red grape variety (also François Noir Femelle) comes from France. It must not be confused with the variety Bachet Noir (with synonym François Noir). It is an all-female grape variety. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2012, it is probably a natural cross between Gouais Blanc x Pinot. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). In 2016 no stock was reported (Kym Anderson).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
