The vintners association in the German cultivation area Franconia was founded in 1996 by 15 winery owners. The 14 member farms today cultivate a total of about 200 hectares of vineyards. The aim was to create a new wine style for the Franconian traditional, but then prestigious variety Müller-Thurgau to develop with fruity white wines for a young audience. In the meantime, the "Frank & Frei Collection" has been established. It consists of Müller-Thurgau and Sylvaner. Rose and Rotling one white and one red Cuvée as well as one Perlwein called Secco - saignée (Pinot Noir, Domina, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus and Kerner ). These wines represent the basic range in the member companies, but the individuality remains. The quality of the wines is different within the group blind tastings tested before they are allowed to wear the Frank & Frei label. There is a joint marketing and the presence at national and international fairs and presentations. The wines are exported to the USA, Holland, Belgium and Denmark.
