The winery "Franz Friedrich-Kern" is located in the community Bernkastel-Wehlen in the German wine-growing region Moselle, A winery Friedrich was already mentioned in documents in 1753 and is still family owned. In 1938, Franz Friedrich married into the long-established winery Kern, which resulted in the double name. Today it is run by Franz-Josef Kern. Attached is a bunch economy. The vineyards cover five hectares of vineyards in the layers Heaven (Graach and Zeltingen), Johannisbrünnchen (Bernkastel) and sundial (Wehlen). They are planted to 90% with Riesling, as well as some Rivaner, dark fields and Dornfelder. The focus is on dry wines, complemented by fruit sweet specialties from Spätlese to Trockenbeerenauslese. The wines are aged in the old vaulted cellar in traditional wooden barrels. The flagship of the house is the dry-built and terroir-stressed "Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling S", which dates back over 80 years ungrafted Vines are pressed.
