Frieze Reiner

The "Reiner & Anke Fries" winery is located in the municipality of Winningen (Burg Cochem area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, Pure Fries sen. Already in 1986, the first winegrower in the village planted the Pinot Noir. Reiner Fries jun. studied at the university of applied sciences in Geisenheim Viticulture before he took over his parents' company in 1993, together with his wife Anke in the eighth generation of families. The vineyards cover six hectares of vineyards in the mostly steeply terraced Domgarten, Hamm, Röttgen and mills, They are planted to 70% with Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Dornfelder. The white wines are fermented cool in stainless steel to preserve the primary fruit aromas. Barriques are used for the expansion of the red wines and Pinot Blanc. The model of the VDP location classification is implemented consistently. Layer names are only used for the cabinet wines and for the top Rieslings from the two individual layers Röttgen and Uhlen. Selections in dry and semi-dry cultivation are marketed under the name "Apollo-Terrassen" (named after the very rare Apollo-moth living in the terrace vineyards). A specialty of the house are the noble sweet Rieslings. Bottle-fermented sparkling wine, frizzante, pomace brandy and grape jelly are also produced.
