DOC area (also Friuli) for a wide range of white wines and red wines in the Italian region of the same name Friuli Venezia Giulia The Slovenian names Furlanija Julijska Krajina or Furlanija can also be used on the label. The zone covers the entire region.
Pure wines are produced from at least 85% of the variety in question and a maximum total of 15% of the other authorised varieties. The white wines are Chardonnay, Friulano(Sauvignonasse), Malvasia Istriana(Malvazija Istarska), Pinot Bianco(Pinot Blanc), Pinot Grigio(Pinot Gris), Riesling, Ribolla Gialla, Sauvignon(Sauvignon Blanc), Traminer Aromatico(Gewürztraminer) and Verduzzo Friulano. The red wines are Cabernet (Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Carmenère), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Nero(Pinot Noir) and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso.
The Bianco and Rosso wines are made in any mixture of the authorised varieties. The Spumante is produced in any blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Nero. Ribolla Gialla Spumante must contain at least 85% of this variety and a maximum of 15% of the other varieties.
