frühschoppen

brunch (GB)
Term for a traditional morning meal in Austria and Germany, which could also be called the German version of the brunch. In Bavaria, this usually means a breakfast consisting of white sausages, sweet mustard, pretzels and wheat beer. Since the latter in the form of schoppen (0.5 liters of beer) is enjoyed, explains the meaning of the word "morning pint". However, this also means a regulars' table in a tavern, which is held regularly on Sunday mornings, predominantly in rural areas, where beer or wine is drunk and, if necessary, a snack is consumed. It also refers to an event held in the morning in a restaurant or as part of a tent festival with mostly folk music, but also, for example, jazz. See also under Customs in viticulture,
