brunch (GB)
Term for a traditional morning meal in Austria and Germany, which could also be described as a German version of the brunch. In Bavaria, this usually means a breakfast consisting of white sausages, sweet mustard, pretzels and wheat beer. Since the latter in the form of schoppen (0.5 liter of beer), explains the meaning of the word "Frühschoppen". However, it also means a regular meeting held in rural areas on Sunday mornings in a public tavern, where beer or wine is drunk and, if necessary, a snack is eaten. Likewise, this means an event held in the morning or in the context of a tent festival with mostly folk music, but also jazz, for example. See also below Customs in viticulture,
