Gadagne

Independent commune area with the four municipalities of Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne, Caumont-sur-Durance, Morières-lès-Avignon, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Avignon and Vedène in the department Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Côtes du Rhône-Villages (see the AOC regulations there). The name may additionally since 2012 on the label cited, but this applies only to the red wines. From the 14th to the 18th century, the wine from Gadagne was rated higher than that of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and was exported to Rome to religious dignitaries. The vineyards cover 180 hectares of vineyards on the right bank of the Rhone on sandy alluvial soils with inclusions of clay, lime and pebbles.
