Gadagne

Independent municipal area with the four municipalities of Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne, Caumont-sur-Durance, Morières-lès-Avignon, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Avignon and Vedène in the department Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Cotes du Rhone-Villages (see the AOC regulations there). The name has also been allowed to appear on the label be mentioned, but this only applies to red wines. From the 14th to the 18th century, wine from Gadagne was valued higher than that of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and was exported to religious dignitaries until Rome. The vineyards cover 180 hectares of vines on the right bank of the Rhone on sandy alluvial soils with inclusions of clay, lime and pebbles.
