Gaisböhl

single vineyard in the municipality of Ruppertsberg (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. It was already mentioned in the 14th century as "Geizebuhel". In the Bavarian site classification of 1828, it was considered a top site. The name derives from a former goat pasture situated on a hill (Bühel). Warm downdrafts from the Mittelhaardt provide an exceptionally warm climate. The south-facing vineyard at 120 metres above sea level with a slope of only 5% covers eight hectares of vines on red sandstone weathered soil with gravel and clay seams in the subsoil. Only Riesling is cultivated here. The vineyard is solely owned by the Dr. Bürklin-Wolf winery.
