Gaisriegl

The reed (also known as Gaisriegel) is located in the municipality of Kitzeck im Sausal in the Austrian wine-growing region of Southern Styria. A subriede of it is Mellacher. The extremely steep vineyards, facing southwest, are situated at an altitude of 470 to 560 metres above sea level on soils dominated by red slate. The white wine varietiesPinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Morillon(Chardonnay), Riesling and Muscat are cultivated here. The Gutjahr, Lambauer and Schauer wineries, for example, have shares in the reed.
