Galloni Antonio

Wine critic Antonio Galloni was born in Caracas (Venezuela), where his parents ran a food and wine business and later moved to Florida (USA). He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (Massachusetts), founded a rock band, studied at the MIT Sloan School of Business in Cambridge and began writing about wine during this time. He worked full-time in marketing. Around the turn of the millennium, he went to Italy, where in 2004 he published the "Piedmont Report", the first English-language magazine on Italian wine. This brought him into contact with the US wine critic Robert M. Parker. Parker hired him for his tasting team at the Wine Advocate, where he was responsible for the evaluation of wines from Italy, California and the French wine-growing areas/regions Burgundy, Chablis, Champagne and Côte d'Or from 2006 to 2013.

After leaving the Parker team, he founded the internet company "Vinous" in 2013. In principle, he focuses on the same wine-growing regions as in his previous function. The wine ratings are done according to the 100-point system with the involvement of the readers and are published on his website besides also general infors about the topic wine. In November 2014, US wine critic Stephen Tanzer (with his International Wine Cellar) and Antonio Galloni announced that their combined 180,000 wine ratings would be merged and published together on the Vinous internet platform with the aim of creating a global multimedia wine platform.
