Negative designation of taste (also alcohol-dominant, alcohol-heavy, hot, boozy, overloaded) for a wine in the context of a wine evaluation or wine address regarding alcohol content. The alcohol is too pronounced to unpleasantly pungent and thus covers up the wine's own aromas, which are hardly perceptible. In weaker expressions, the positively connoted terms alcoholic and vinous are used. Related, also positive terms are burning, warm, powerful, heavy and bulky. A similar term with a different meaning is burnt.
