Color name for one red wine as part of a wine address, It derives from the pomegranate imported from Carthage, which the Romans called the grains "malum granatum" (granatus = kernreich) or "malum punicum" (phoenician apple). The Latin adjective "puniceus" means garnet red and denotes the typical colour of pomegranate. It is a lighter red with bluish or violet reflections. Especially older wines have this color.
