Gebrüder Kauer

The winery is located in the community Windesheim in German growing area Near, It is run by the brothers Christoph and Markus Kauer. The traditional business has been owned by the family since 1697. Since 1992, it has been managed by the brothers Markus and Christoph Kauer in the 14th generation. Since the year 2000 the wine cellar is completely in the hands of Christoph Kauer. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Römerberg, Rosenberg, Saukopf and Sonnenmorgen (Windesheim). They are planted with the white varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Rivaner, and with Pinot Noir. It is practiced consistently close to nature, environmentally friendly viticulture. The quality criteria in the vineyard are intensive foliage work, low yield, late and selective hand picking, and careful grape processing. The wines are mostly dry after long fermentation and long yeast storage. It also produces bottled fermented sparkling wine.
