Spanish and Portuguese term (also Vino Generoso or Vinho Generoso) for a fortified wine (literally translated this means "generous" in German). This can be dry or sweet, unlike a Licoroso (always sweet). They are also produced in the special wine types Mistela and Rancio. In Italian, generoso means "lavish" in the context of a wine address.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
