GIS (also Geoinformation System) consists of hardware, software, data and applications for storing, analysing and displaying geographical data on soil type, climate, topography and harvest history. Such information on vineyards or areas under vines is used, for example, in the context of precision viticulture.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
