The winery "Tarucco - Azienda Agricola Geraci" is located in Bisacquino - Contessa Entellina in the province of Palermo in Sicily, Here was once a castle built in the 14th century called "Feudo Tarucco". In the 18th century, a country house was built with a winery called "Case Langer". In 1920 the property was acquired by the Geraci family. Today it is run by Antonella and Stefano Geraci. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vines on sandy, loamy and calcareous soils at an altitude between 400 and 480 meters. The terroir was named "Tarucco" after the former castle. Here are the white wines Chardonnay, Grecanico Dorato ( Garganega ) and Grillo, as well as the red wine varieties Alicante Henri Bouschet. Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot. Nero d'Avola and Syrah cultured. Olive trees stand on three hectares for the production of olive oil.
The winemaker Donato Lanati from Piedmont is responsible for the vinification. Premium wines are the Tarucco Peralta (Nero d'Avola, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon), Tarucco Alicante, Tarucco Nero d'Avola and Tarucco Syrah, as well as the Cuvées Tarucco Gioeni (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet) and Tarucco Colonna (Grillo, Greco Dorato, Chardonnay). The label adorns a woman who sits enthroned on the Trinacria (ancient name of Sicily). Around 120,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
