The winery in the Hungarian region Eger was founded in 1993 by the Hungarian oenologist Tibor Gál (1958-2005) when he returned home after a long stay in Italy. Marchese Nicolo Incisa della Rochetta, the producer of the Sassicaia, as well as Burkard Bovensiepen, the owner of Alpina-BMW. The company name “GIA” resulted from Gál, Incisa and Alpina. In 2002, after Alpina left the US company Kobrand Corporation (partner in one of the largest US wine trading companies).
