The winery "Casa Vinicola Gialdi SA" in Mendrisio in the Swiss canton Ticino was born in 1984, when Feliciano Gialdi bought and modernized the dilapidated winery Roberto Foc in the small community of Bodio. There are no vineyards of its own, but only grapes from about 300 contract growers with often the smallest vineyards in the valleys Blenio, Leventina and Val Riviera in northern Ticino are bought. The flagship of the house is the Merlot red wine "36", which is aged for 36 months in oak barrels. Other premium wines are also matured in barrique "Sassi grossi" (Merlot) and a white-pressed Bianco di Merlot. Simpler Merlots are produced under the respective municipality name.
