The red variety comes from France, Synonyms are Moutet, Mutet and Tardieu. It may, despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological Similarities not with the variety valdiguié (Moutet) According to the year 2012 DNA analysis it is a presumably natural cross between Cot x Colombaud, However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular Genetics ). No stock was reported for the nearly extinct variety in 2010.
