The white grape variety comes from Spain. Synonyms are Gibi ( Argentina ); Augibi, Jubi Blanc, Maccabeu à Gros Grains, Panse Blanche, Passerille Blanche, Tercia Blanc ( France ); Mourisco Branco ( Portugal ); Alzibib, Aparia, Even de Yepes, Gibi, Laco Blanco, Lekel Aneb, Lekhal Aneb, Pansera, Torrontés ( Spain ). It is believed that the variety under the name Alzibib (Zibebe = raisin) from the Arabs Andalusia was introduced. It was mentioned in any case at the beginning of the 16th century. According to DNA analysis she was a parent at many probably natural crosses and is therefore a major Spanish leading variety :
