Gilliard

The wine house "Robert Gilliard SA" with its headquarters in the town of Sion in the Swiss canton of Valais was founded in 1885 by Edmond Gilliard. Today it is managed by Claude-Nicolas Becker. The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vines, most of which are located on the right bank of the Rhône in the Sion appellation. Impressive are the steep terraces of the Domaine de la Cotzette, which are supported by stone walls up to 20 metres high. Cultivated are Chasselas (41%), Pinot Noir (30%), Gamay (18%), Johannisberg (Silvaner), Syrah, Muscat and Malvoisie (Pinot Gris), as well as the autochthonous Petite Arvine, Amigne, Ermitage (Marsanne), Cornalin d'Aoste (Cornalin), Cornalin du Valais (Rouge du Pays) and Diolinoir. Premium wines include the cuvée "Antarès" (one third each of Diolinoir, Syrah and Pinot Noir), "Brûle-Fer" (Johannisberg), "Dôle des Monts" (Pinot Noir, Gamay) and "Domaine de la Cotzette" (made from old Chasselas vines).

Sigi Hiss

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
