Goethe (grape variety)

The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Carter x Black Hamburg (Schiava Grossa). Synonyms are Goethe Classica, Gota de Ouro and Rogers 1. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1858 in the USA in Salem/Massachusetts by the breeder E. S. Rogers. It is used as a grape variety and table grape. In 2016, 20 hectares were designated in Brazil (statistics Kym Anderson).
