Goldert

One of the sites classified as Grand Cru in Alsace (Haut-Rhin) within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It was mentioned in documents as a good wine village as early as 735. The name derives from the golden Gewürztraminer wines. The vineyards cover 45 hectares of vines on calcareous clay soil in the commune of Gueberschwihr. They are mainly planted with Gewürztraminer, for which the soil is ideally suited. The other varieties are Muscat Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Well-known producers are Ernest Burn, Henri Gross, Marcel Hertzog, Jean-Bernard Humbrecht, Fernand Lichtlé, CV Pfaffenheim, Marco Saulnier, Louis Scherb et Fils and Domaine Zind Humbrecht.
