The white grape variety originates from Moldova. There are over 60 synonyms, which suggests the vine is very old. Some of them are Alemcak, Almour, Baias Kokur, Boskokvi, Boskokwi, Bulganak, Crimea's White Grape, Gordan, Gordan de Dragasani, Gordin de Dealul Mare, Gordin din Dealul Mare, Gordin Galben, Gordin Galbin, Gordin Galbin Zheltyi, Gordin Gyurgunat, Gordin Marunt, Gordinul, Ichel, Krimskii Belyi and Timpurie. The parentage is unknown. The variety was a crossing partner in the new variety Prachttraube. No stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
