Gottschelle

Riede in the village of Furth near Göttweig in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Kremstal, It was first mentioned in 1341 under the name "Gotschalich". The name has no religious background, as one might suspect, but is derived either from "Good Floe" (good soil) or "Goetschen" (sharp rocky outcrop). The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards at the foot of the Göttweiger mountain. The soil consists of weathering and gravel in the substrate, which is overlaid by loess layers. Through the hollow path "Zellergraben" leads the theme path "Loess & Wine", where you can visit the power of these loess formations. Here is especially the for this soil type predestined strain Green Valtellina cultured. Shares in the vineyard, for example, have the wineries Dockner Josef. Malat Michael. Müller Leopold and Stefan. Unger Petra and Weingut Stift Göttweig,
