Gottschelle

Riede in the municipality of Furth near Göttweig in the Lower Austrian wine region Kremstal, It was first mentioned in a document in 1341 under the name "Gotschalich". The name has no religious background, as one might suspect, but is derived from either “Good Plaice” (good soil) or “Goetschen” (sharp rocky outcrop). The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards at the foot of the Göttweiger mountain. The soil consists of weathering and gravel, which is covered with layers of loess. The “Loess & Wine” theme trail leads through the “Zellergraben” ravine, where you can see the thickness of these loess formations. Here is especially for this soil type predestined variety Green Valtellina cultured. The wineries, for example, have shares in the vineyard Dockner Josef. Malat Michael. Müller Leopold and Stefan.
