The winery is located in the municipality of Langenlonsheim in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. The winery, previously run by Helga and Helmut Binzel, was handed over to their son Andreas in 2005. He had studied viticulture and enology in Geisenheim and gained practical experience at the Simi Winery (Alexander Valley, California), Bergkelder (South Africa) and Babich (New Zealand). The vineyards cover 5.5 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Königsschild, Löhrer Berg, Rothenberg and Steinchen (Langenlonsheim), as well as Hipperich and Rosenteich (Guldental). More than 90% of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Scheurebe and Huxelrebe, the rest with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Dornfelder.

Great importance is attached to old vines, which are intensively tended. Only healthy and optimally ripe grapes are processed through selective manual harvesting. After a gentle pressing of the gra pes, the wine is fermented slowly for two to three months with pure yeasts and aged for the most part in large wooden barrels (1,200 to 2,500 litres) made of German oak. The wine is moved and handled as little as possible in the cellar and bottled fresh with plenty of natural carbon dioxide. Every year, something new is tried out on a small scale, such as late harvesting in November, different maceration times, press fraction separation, different yeasts and standing times on the fine le es.
