The crossing took place in 1960 France by the breeder Paul Truel (* 1924) on behalf of INRA at the Domaine de Vassal in Montpellier, The late ripening vine is somewhat susceptible to millerandage but resistant to Botrytis, It produces full-bodied red wines with moderate tannins, The variety is found in the smallest quantities in the departments Aude and Vaucluse grown.
