Grangehurst

The winery is located in the South African wine district of Stellenbosch at the foot of the Helderberg. It was founded in 1992 by Jeremy Walker, who had previously studied oenology and gained practical experience on several wine farms. The sports-loving newcomer converted his squash hall and tennis court into a winery. There are (still) no vineyards of his own (status 2004), but the grapes are sourced from around 13 hectares of vineyards. However, 15 hectares of land have been bought, which will be planted with the best varieties. Within a few years Walker has become one of South Africa's leading red wine specialists. The premium wines include two pure red wines from Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage, as well as a red wine cuvée from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. They are all aged in French barriques. About 100,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
