The winery is located in the municipality of Leiwen in the German wine-growing region Moselle
, It was founded in 1624 and today is owned by the Gerhard and Doris Grans family. The vineyard covers ten hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Laurentiuslay
(Trittenheim) and Goldtröpfchen
(Piesport). They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (85%), Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. The reading is always very late. During the winemaking process a careful selection of the grapes takes place already in the vineyard, gentle processing, cool, slow fermentation and long yeast storage. Every year only two dry wines are produced. These are the Gutsriesling and a selection of very old, partly rootless vines from Laurentiuslay. The only semi-dry wine is the Cuvée "Catherina". The rest is in the rest and noble sweet area. Bottle-fermented Riesling and pomace brandies are also produced. The winery is a member of VDP
(Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
