Grechetto Rosso

The red grape probably comes from Italy, Synonyms are Grechetto Rosa and Greghetto. The exact origin and identity are unclear. It could be a sport from Grechetto di Orvieto to be synonymous with the variety Sangiovese, or to act as a separate variety. In the DOC area Colli Etruschi Viterbesi in the region of Lazio, it is under the local name Grechetto or Greghetto main variety of a red wine. In 2010, larger stocks were in the three regions Lazio (14 ha), Umbria (15 ha) and Veneto (14 ha). Total occupied 49 hectares of vineyards (Statistics Kym Anderson ).
