DOC area for sweet white wine in the Italian region of Calabria. The zone covers 12 hectares of vineyards in the eponymous coastal town of Bianco and partly in the municipality of Casignana in the province of Reggio Calabria at the very tip of the boot. The amber-coloured wine is made from semi-dried, raisined grapes of the Greco Bianco variety (to. 95%) and possibly other authorised varieties (max. 5%). The alcohol content is 17% vol. and the prescribed ageing period is one year. The wine is also bottled in Bocksbeutel bottles.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
