The red grape variety (also Tinta Grossa) comes from Portugal, The parentage is unknown. It may despite the seemingly indicative synonym Tinta Grossa or morphological Similarities do not match the varieties Carrega Tinto. Marufo or Tinta Barroca be confused. The late-ripening vine with thick-skinned berries yields deep-dark red wines with varied aromas of sour cherries, blackberries and vanilla, The variety is mainly in the field Vidigueira ( Alentejo ), as well as in the area Tejo grown.
