, The Schätzle family cultivates the winemaking tradition in the center of the Kaiserstuhl since the 18th century. Since 1994, the company is managed by Thomas and his wife Friederike Schätzle. Since 2013 daughter Franziska Schätzle (trained as Dipl. Ing. Viticulture & oenology in Geisenheim
and the Université de Dijon with professional stations in Burgundy, Bordeaux, Spain and New Zealand). The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Bassgeige
(Schelingen) and Steinhalde (Amoltern).
They are planted with the white varieties Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Kerner, and the red varieties Pinot Noir and Merlot. The focus is more than 80% on the Burgundian varieties. The aim of the winery is, "the fruity elegance of Lössterrassen and the minerality
