Guignard de Saintours

The red grape variety (also Guignard de Saintours 2) originates from France. DNA analyses carried out in 2009 revealed that it is the result of a presumably natural cross between Magdeleine Noire des Charentes (mother variety of Merlot) and Gouais Blanc (Heunisch). However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). The variety is cultivated in south-west France in small quantities. In 2016, however, no stock was reported (Kym Anderson).
