Gunther Harald

The estate is located in the commune of Großwallstadt (Mainviereck area) in the German wine-growing region Franconia, It started in 1974 when Erich Gunther (+2011) leased the first vineyard. At that time the grapes became one wine cooperative delivered. In 1992 self-marketing started. Finally, a newly built winery was moved into in 2004. A wine bar is connected. After completing his studies at the FH Geisenheim Harald Gunter took over the business in 1999 as a graduate engineer for viticulture and oenology and practice as deputy winery manager and cellar master, which he has been managing together with his wife Sabine since then.

The vineyards cover six hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Lützeltalerberg (Großwallstadt), Harstell (Großostheim), Schlossberg (Klingenberg am Main), as well as Jesuitenberg, Johannisberg and Schalk (Rück). They are planted with the white varieties Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Bacchus, Riesling and Rieslaner, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Regent and Dornfelder. The management is carried out according to organic certified guidelines since 2013. Pinot Noir and Dornfelder are also in magnums (1.5 l) filled. Around 40,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Sparkling wines, Secco (sparkling wines), brandies (wine, pomace, yeast, hazelnut, fruit) and liqueurs are also produced. The winery is a member of the Franconian Wine Association.
