Gutknipperlé

The white grape variety (also known as Gutkniperlé) is a new variety between Knipperlé x Chasselas. The name is derived from Gutedel (synonym for Chasselas) and the mother variety. The cross was made in France by the breeder Christian Oberlin (1831-1915) at his institute near Volmar in Alsace. It was also cultivated mainly in Alsace, but today, like the father variety, it is of little importance.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
