The white grape variety (also Gutkniperlé) is a new breed between Knipperlé x Chasselas, The name derives from Gutedel (synonym for Chasselas) and the mother places, The cross was made in France by the breeder Christian Oberlin (1831-1915) at his institute near Volmar in Alsace. She was also especially in the Alsace grown, but today, like the father variety, has hardly any significance.
