This traditional winery is located in the municipality of Gundheim (Wonnegau area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. It is run by Michael and Christine Gutzler. The vineyards cover 16 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Brunnenhäuschen and Morstein (Westhofen), Römerberg (Dorn-Dürkheim), Sonnenberg (Gundheim), Höllenbrand (Gundersheim), as well as the famous Liebfrauenstift church site in Worms (see also under Liebfrauenmilch). They are planted with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser and Dornfelder, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Silvaner and Sauvignon Bl anc. Dense planting results in deeper rooting and thus increased absorption of mineral nutrients. Further quality-enhancing measures include intensive vine care and a strong reduction in yields. Certified organic viticulture has been practised since the 2017 vintage.

Gutzler Gerhard - Fasskeller und Ehepaar Gutzler

In accordance with the VDP classification model, the product range is divided into estate wines, local wines and Grosse Gewächse. According to the maxim of the house, the focus of production is on wines that are typical of their origin and variety. The vaulted cellar, built from old bricks prepared by hand, together with the open floor, ensures a perfect ambient temperature and humidity during the maturing process. The wines are matured exclusively dry, with the exception of the noble sweet predicates. After fermentation, the white wines are stored on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks until bottling. After the classic mash fermentation, the red wines are matured in traditional large wooden barrels or in barrique barrels, depending on the type of wine.

The premium wines of the house are the Grossen Gew ächse Morstein Spätburgunder, Morstein Riesling, Brunnenhäuschen Spätburgunder and Liebfrauenstift Kirchenstück Riesling as well as the "Unikate" wines made from special grape varieties and aged for a long time in wooden barrels with high ageing potential. In the sparkling wine factory, bottle-fermented sparkling wines are produced from the Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir varieties, as well as fine brandies (fruit, berries, sea buckthorn, elderberry) under the name "Wilde Wasser". The winery is a member of the winegrowers' associations Maxime Herkunft Rheinhessen, Message in a Bottle and VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
