Gwäss

The name derived from the French "Gouais" or Germanized designates a white wine from the Swiss canton Wallis that made the grape variety Gouais blanc (White Heunisch) is pressed (Gwäss is also a synonym for this grape variety). The acid-stressed, rustic-tasting white wine serves mainly as a blend or as a simple thirst quencher. Due to the high acid content, the vine was formerly used on the edge of vineyards to keep people from stealing the grapes.
