Hagn Wolfgang

The winery "Leopold & Wolfgang Hagn Hundschupfenkellerei" is located in the community Mailberg in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Weinviertel, In July 2009 a restaurant was opened. The traditional Hagn family has been based in Mailberg for over 300 years. The operation is led by the brothers Leopold and Wolfgang Hagn, who are led by their sons Leopold jr. and Wolfgang Jr. get supported. The vineyards cover about 35 hectares of vineyards in the vineyards Altenpoint, Atlassbergen, Hochlüssen, Hundschupfen, Kraith, Rosenpoint and Zuckerschlee. They are planted with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Welschriesling, Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, and with the red varieties Blauburgunder, Zweigelt, Blauburger, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. After slower, controlled fermentation, the wines are largely dry-aged in large oak barrels. Among the premium wines count Weinviertel DAC (Grüner Veltliner) and Grüner Veltliner Hundschupfen, as well as the red wine cuvées "Colloredo" (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) and "Mailberg" (Zweigelt, Merlot). Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, sparkling wines, brandies (grape, pomace, fruit), grape juices and, as a special feature, wine chocolate are also produced. The winery is a member of the associations Mail Mountain Valley and wineries Weinviertel.
